Gartner® 5 Steps to Scale Network Automation for Digital Transformation

Despite valiant efforts, successful digital transformation for network and security infrastructure continues to be an elusive outcome for most enterprises. As a result, Gartner indicated that “by the end of 2028, over 80% of all comprehensive network automation initiatives will have been shelved due to persistent skill scarcity and inadequate funding, up from less than 10% in 2024.” Have you found yourself in a similar situation, knowing that if more progress can be made, you and the business have so much to gain?

Infrastructure and operations leaders face challenges in achieving network automation results due to a lack of accurate production network data, skills, the heterogeneity of equipment types and inadequate funding. Enterprises lack a coherent network operations tooling strategy, leading to a siloed view of tool acquisitions. Attempting to integrate management tools from multiple vendors creates cross-application interdependencies that slow down network automation initiatives and limit scaling opportunities.” For many, creating and maintaining a consolidated network source of truth (NSoT) is the critical next step for scaling network automation – as depicted in this Figure below:
