Harley-Davidson Selects AT&T for $10.5 Million Global Networking Contract
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, November 30, 2006
AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) announced today that AT&T has won a three-year, $10.5 million global networking contract from Harley-Davidson, Inc. (NYSE: HDI), one of the world's leading manufacturers of heavyweight motorcycles, motorcycle parts and related accessories.
Under terms of the agreement, AT&T will deploy an Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN) integrating 27 Harley-Davidson locations in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific with a full range of voice, data and business continuity services. The contract renews and expands a long-standing relationship between the two companies.
The high speed networking solution, which runs on AT&T's industry-leading Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) platform, provides enhanced connectivity for locations around the globe, increased bandwidth supporting worldwide collaboration and the highest levels of network security and reliability in the industry.
AT&T's MPLS platform also paves the way for Harley-Davidson to extend its Voice over IP (VoIP) services and supports Harley-Davidson's business continuity plan by providing automatic backup and rerouting to another facility in the event of a network disruption or disaster. In addition, Harley-Davidson employees will have a consistent set of Internet tools around the world that cut the complexity and costs of doing business.
"The right technology enables companies like Harley-Davidson to increase efficiencies, standardize global processes and eliminate redundancies across regions," said Nick Morikis, sales vice president, AT&T Enterprise Sales. "Using solutions like AT&T's MPLS platform, companies can use technology to deliver a strategic business advantage."
Harley-Davidson will be able to monitor the performance of its network and applications through the secure AT&T customer portal, AT&T BusinessDirect® , which provides operational efficiencies including around-the-clock online access to real-time reports on network performance and direct connection to trouble management systems.
