Yankee Group Survey Rates AT&T Number One for Global Network Services

April 19, 2004

The Yankee Group, a global leader in communications and networking research, has published the results of its Global Network Strategies Survey in which respondents from over 1,000 multinational companies (MNCs) rate AT&T first for global network services.

In Asia Pacific, the survey confirmed AT&T's position as one of the leading global network service providers and best network outsourcers for MNC's international needs as reported by companies surveyed in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India and Japan.

In addition to the Asia Pacific results, at a regional level AT&T is the highest ranked global network provider in Europe, Canada and the US. Over 1,000 MNCs were surveyed around the world, including 504 in Asia Pacific, 395 in North America and 272 in Europe.

In ranking AT&T highly for the provision of global network services, survey respondents indicated that the three most important factors in selecting a network service provider are the reliability and competence of the network, total price, and the network provider's understanding of the respondents' business needs.

Convergence of voice and data is shown to be in the sights of most MNCs, with three out of every four committed to network integration. 40 percent of respondents are shown to be currently implementing integration of voice and data / IP networks, and a further 34 percent planning implementation in the next 12 months.
