Tele-Training Workshop Descriptions
The following tele-training workshops are 60 minutes. These workshops are recommended assuming that all participants will have received and reviewed the course material in the Lee Hecht Harrison “Managing Your Search Project-The Ten Milestones” (MYSP). Ideally, the participant should have had at least one career coaching/consulting session to determine the appropriate workshops and recommended sequence. In addition to reviewing your Milestones printed information, it is suggested you register for the LHH CRN (Career Resource Network). Start with the online tutorial to learn how to navigate the CRN.

Course Descriptions
Starting Your Own Business (51214756) **
** Participants must have simultaneous access to the Internet and a phone (2 lines).
This is an in-depth tour of the special resource on the Lee Hecht Harrison website. The workshop is designed to explore the “Four Options” of self-employment: Becoming a Consultant, Starting a Business, Buying a Business and Buying a Franchise. The discussion will cover crucial questions to be asked and answered as you consider your entrepreneurial potential. It will include information about the structure of your business, financing and setting up a home office. The program will also include what is needed to create a solid business plan that will increase your chances for success by forcing you to be clear about all aspects of the business you plan to engage in, start or buy. By clearly documenting your assumptions and plans you will increase your knowledge of your business and be better able to convey your vision compellingly to others. You will need a business plan if you plan to raise capital or secure a loan or a line of credit for the business.

One of two workshops dealing with the interviewing process based on the information in MYSP Milestone 9. This workshop teaches the Strategic Interviewing Process, discusses types of interviews – screening, telephone, group or panel and behavior-based and provides guidelines for interviewing, including information on non-verbal behavior. Special attention is given to the types of questions participants should ask during the interview process. This workshop establishes the basis for productivity in the job search and moves into a discussion that will include how to research industries, target companies and issues. Participants learn how to manage the job search as they would a project – starting first with a carefully developed plan. Participants are guided through the Introduction Chapter, Milestone 1, Milestone 4 and Milestone 5. They then examine ways to implement that marketing plan and measure their productivity throughout the process. Financial Planning (51214760)
The following is a summary explanation of the tax and financial seminar presented by the Affinity Federal Credit Union for current and former AT&T employees. The seminar covers the following topics:

- Estate Planning
Our purpose is to provide the attendees with information that will increase their knowledge related to these topics. This additional knowledge will help them to make better financial and tax related decisions. We also invite the attendees to individual sessions if they so desire. Severance Issues segment explains basic household budget development. Provide basic State unemployment information. Explains in detail, how to plan your finances during a non-employment period. Provide a general review of the separation package and the choices available. The Investment segment explains the benefits of diversified portfolios, asset classes, market trends, risk tolerance, specific types of investments (i.e. annuities, IRAs, stocks, bonds and mutual funds).
Savings for Retirement explains 401k’s and other qualified retirement savings accounts. Addresses the common question, how much money will I need for retirement, provides retirement planning tips and explains the tax implications related to retirement distributions. Retirement Vehicles Section this section compares the two most common types of retirement savings vehicles: the 401k (Long Term Saving Plan) and Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs). Explain the choices available when receiving a lump sum distribution and ways to avoid the early distribution penalty for the early retiree. Estate Planning provides explanations and examples related to setting up your estate. The scope of the discussion begins with setting up a simple will and expands to the use of trusts to minimize estate taxes.

Access job leads available only to LHH clients and link to other sources of leads. Connect with other LHH clients around the country to share information and ideas.
