Synchronous Optical Network

  • Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) services enable an agency to link together devices that use disparate transfer protocols (e.g. ATM, Frame Relay or IP) into a single network. SONET is the U.S. standard for fiber optic
    transmission rates from 51.84 Mbps to beyond 13.27 Gbps. It provides proactive performance monitoring to prevent single and multiple failures, enabling self-healing functions and robust network management.

  • SONETS is mandatory in the Networx Universal contract and Optional in the Networx Enterprise contract.
