Senior Vice President, FirstNet, AT&T Business Solutions – Global Public Sector
As senior vice president AT&T Business Solutions - Global Public Sector, Chris Sambar is responsible for executing the company's FirstNet contract and developing a business model to support the nationwide First Responder network.
Before joining Global Public Sector, Chris was a key member of the AT&T corporate strategy team allocating the company’s roughly $22 billion in annual capital spending. Previously, he served as vice president and general manager overseeing AT&T wireline and wireless sales, service, network, marketing and public relations for Virginia, West Virginia and southern Texas markets. In a prior leadership role, Chris served as the executive director of Retail Learning Services, Human Resources where he was responsible for training 40,000 retail sales people throughout the U.S.
Chris' extensive sales experience includes serving as the retail director of sales for the San Diego CA market area where he led all retail, door-to-door and event sales teams. Additionally, as a member of the Leadership Development Program (LDP) within SBC Communications, Chris gained hands-on experience in AT&T Business Solutions sales, where he engaged with C-level decision makers across a variety of industries. Other LDP rotations included assignments in Network Operations, where Chris worked as an installation and repair supervisor.
Chris holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science from The United States Naval Academy. He served seven years on active duty and 16 years in the reserves with multiple deployments throughout Europe, the Middle East and one tour of duty during the Iraq war in 2005 and 2006.
