AT&T Outfits Wilsons Leather With Network Integration Solution
MINNEAPOLIS – AT&T announced today it has won a network integration contract from Wilsons Leather, the nation’s leading specialty retailer of quality leather outerwear, accessories and apparel. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
AT&T will provide a technology solution integrating wireless handheld devices used by Wilsons store personnel with the company’s core networking infrastructure that supports its 428 retail stores across 45 states – thereby improving customer service and inventory management. Using the wireless devices, store personnel can check merchandise prices for customers on the spot, instead of having to take items to a register.
“We understand the importance of having a secure, reliable network for the company to communicate with our various stores and divisions,” said Jeff Orton, chief information officer for Wilsons Leather. “AT&T’s networking solution helps us provide premium customer service throughout our retail stores during the busy upcoming holiday retail season.”
The networking solution is fully integrated with Wilsons’ inventory system. Using the wireless devices, store employees can scan in daily inventory shipments to provide a report of what has arrived and what inventory has been back-ordered. The handhelds also provide valuable data about which merchandise attracts customers’ attention.
