AT&T Contributes Volunteerism and Financial Support to Associacao Alianca De Misericordia in Brazil

San Antonio, Texas, March 17, 2008

Sao Paulo, Brazil - The AT&T Foundation, the corporate philanthropy organization of AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T), today announced a special AT&T CARES grant of $5,000 to Associaçao Aliança de Misericordia, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to rescue the moral, human and cultural dignity of those living in a social exclusion situation, through programs and activities that can reintroduce to society human beings fully restored in its civility.

"The time and dedication offered by AT&T volunteers in Sao Paulo, as well as the funds in the form of a grant received from the AT&T Foundation mean, a lot to our organization, which was primarily created to give hope and care to hundreds of abandoned and mistreated children living in critical conditions in our country," said Ana Beatriz Hauptmann, institutional development coordinator for Associaçao Aliança de Misericordia. "The financial support from AT&T and the time donated by its employees will allow us to continue covering the basic needs of food and shelter for these children and, just as important, to make them feel loved and cared for".

During the past two years, 72 AT&T employees contributed more than 350 hours of volunteerism to Associaçao Aliança de Misericordia in a variety of projects, from Easter to Children's Day. For example, for two consecutive years — 2006 and 2007 — volunteers created and distributed Christmas kits for each of the kids from Associaçao Aliança de Misericordia. Each kit was made up of one toy, a pair of shoes, T-shirts, socks and underwear.

"It is with great joy that our volunteers shared their time and resources with the Associaçao Aliança de Misericordia," said Richard Berge, general manager of AT&T in Brazil. "Part of our commitment as a company is to contribute and support those organizations that positively work to make a difference in the lives of others, specially of the children of our country".

The AT&T CARES special grants program was established in recognition of the value that international employee volunteerism brings to the company and to the communities they serve. Under this annual special grants program, each international region nominates one nonprofit organization each year with which AT&T employees have a significant volunteerism relationship.
