AT&T Among World's 50 Most Admired Companies in Fortune Magazine's Annual Ranking
Ranked No. 1 in Telecom on Both World's and America's Most Admired Lists
San Antonio, Texas, March 10, 2008
AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) today announced that Fortune magazine has named AT&T among the Top 50 Most Admired companies in the world for the first time. AT&T placed No. 34 on the overall World's Most Admired Companies list. Fortune also named AT&T the World's Most Admired Telecommunications Company. Both honors follow the announcement last week that AT&T topped the America's Most Admired Telecommunications Company list again this year.
AT&T has ranked No. 1 on the World's Most Admired Telecommunications Company list in nine of the past 12 years, and has earned the No. 1 spot on the America's Most Admired Telecommunications Company list in 10 of the past 13 years.
AT&T joins an elite group of other corporate leaders named among the Most Admired in the world, including Apple, General Electric, UPS, Johnson & Johnson, and Microsoft.
"We're proud to be recognized for leadership in all the categories that make a Most Admired company, including being a good corporate citizen and an employer of choice," said Randall Stephenson, AT&T chairman and CEO. "This recognition honors the commitment of our more than 300,000 employees to efficiently connect people and businesses worldwide."
The magazine's Most Admired Companies lists are among the most highly respected registers of corporate performance and reputation.
To identify the Most Admired Companies, Fortune and its partner, the Hay Group, survey top executives and directors from Fortune 1000 and Global 500 companies, along with financial analysts, to identify companies that have the strongest reputations within their industries and across industries. Companies are rated on attributes that include the ability to attract and retain talented people, quality of products and services, quality of management, innovation, social responsibility, use of corporate assets and long-term investment value.
