AT&T Enhances Services for AT&T Williams

Silverstone, England - As AT&T Williams gears up for its "home" race, the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday, July 8, AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) has announced that enhanced services will be delivered to the Grand Prix racing team as part of the ongoing title sponsorship.
One of the most recent services deployed for the team is AT&T's Remote Access Services, which allows team members to access the Internet and connect to their corporate network — securely — from anywhere around the world. With the 2007 FIA Formula One World Championship season in full swing, the Remote Access Services is extremely invaluable to the team members, as they are able to connect using broadband, Wi-Fi, cellular or public switched telephone network (PSTN) connections.
"AT&T's Remote Access Services is giving us a number of benefits", said Alex Burns, chief operating officer of Williams F1. "First, we have significantly reduced our direct costs, especially now that traveling staff members no longer have to rely on expensive hotel Internet connections. Second, the fact that we are able to access our corporate network at any time has increased productivity throughout the organisation".
"Typically, AT&T Williams will have around 70 staff members travelling to a European-based Grand Prix, and the ability for them to connect from wherever they are is a real benefit in terms of productivity", says Martin Silman, AT&T's executive director for Global Portfolio Management. "We have recently expanded our footprint of Wi-Fi hot spots and now have more than 50,000 access points in 80 countries."
AT&T's Remote Access Services is part of a wider enterprise-mobility portfolio that allows secure, simple and seamless integration with any organisation's business. Mobility has become a critical component for business, and easy access to corporate networks through laptops, remote offices or PDAs helps mobile workers increase productivity.
Earlier this year, AT&T announced further investment and extension of its Remote Access footprint, and the AT&T Williams team will now be able to connect to the AT&T network via:
- Cellular data access in 11 countries.
- Wired Ethernet access from more than 2600 locations in 18 countries.
- Wi-Fi access from more than 50,000 hot spots over 80 countries. AT&T already provides Wi-Fi coverage to 81 U.S. airports — including the country's 25 busiest — as well as more than 175 other airports around the world.
- Dial access from more than 10,000 access points in 176 countries.
AT&T is also providing its advanced Web hosting services to the team's new state-of-the-art Web site, www.attwilliams.com, which was launched at the beginning of the 2007 FIA Formula One World Championship season. The new team site's design is unique, and the interactivity of the site has been received extremely well by fans. In addition to team and race information, the site includes a raft of rich media content, such as podcasts, interactive tours and online games.
The huge global popularity of the sport means that — particularly in the run up to the race and the race itself — tens of thousands of users access the Web site, and that demand places tremendous strain on the site. AT&T's hosting service allows for flexible access to bandwidth as needed to allow for increased amounts of videocasting, webcasts and rich media content. The rich media content area of the site will continue to be developed throughout the season, with the addition of new services for fans and partners around the world.
