•  AT&T Synaptic Storage as a Service supports moderate level security controls under the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA).
•  AT&T is authorized to provide storage as a service to federal agencies via the GSA IaaS Blanket Purchase Agreement.

Overview:

Executive Summary

With the requirements defined by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) under its ‘Cloud First’ policy, and a fiscal environment that is driving significant federal spending reductions, agencies have begun to migrate legacy services and systems to cloud-based solutions.  By making the operational and application decisions to implement cloud offers, agencies can achieve cost economies, and quickly scale resources as user demand changes due to seasonal activities or the proliferation of technology innovations in mobility devices and applications, web-based services and other IT programs and initiatives.  To satisfy end users who expect near instant IT resources, the flexible cloud computing service model is an appealing choice for federal IT managers.

With cloud solutions, agencies can quickly and easily tap computing, storage, software development and network resources or fire up a new application without waiting to purchase, install and provision equipment and software.  This service model offloads the capital expense burden from agency budgets and moves it into an agile operational expense service model with the expectation of reducing overall IT spend and service-commitment terms.  To help architect a highly scalable and cost effective cloud based solution that can be executed swiftly, look no further that AT&T.

The AT&T focus on cloud solutions is part of our heritage. For years, AT&T - one of the largest providers of data services in the world - has been providing IT services that are based in the network or cloud.  Our commitment to extend cloud offers to government and business customers is a natural extension of our telecommunications legacy.

AT&T cloud offers are network-resident IT services delivered over a highly reliable, intelligent AT&T-managed network from AT&T-operated data centers.  AT&T controls the access network to the cloud-based environment and maintains responsibility for the entire cloud-based service package. Having control over the end-to-end infrastructure enables AT&T to optimize resource availability, application performance, security, latency and many other important computing and networking variables.

AT&T Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud offers for compute and storage resources, described below, are available on multiple GSA contract vehicles.  Contact your AT&T sales representative for further details.

AT&T Synaptic Storage as a ServiceSM

AT&T Synaptic Storage as a Service delivers scalable data storage you can access anywhere.

AT&T Government Solutions* has received an Authority to Operate (ATO) for AT&T Synaptic Storage as a ServiceSM from the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA).

•  AT&T Synaptic Storage as a Service supports moderate level security controls under the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA).

For government data, storage is an immense and complicated issue. Records cannot be stuffed into a closet.  Information must be protected - yet available - for quick access when needed.  Capacity needs grow continuously as the volume of information produced and preserved by each agency expands.  AT&T Synaptic Storage as a Service offers an easy answer to data retention problems. It’s elastic, reliable and retrievable online. And it’s cost-effective, because you pay only for what you use.

You can connect to AT&T Synaptic Storage as a Service no matter where your primary IT infrastructure, applications, or data may be located - whether hosted in your own data center, with AT&T, or with a third party.  And you can access your data from nearly any web-enabled device.

AT&T Cloud Services Portal

AT&T Synaptic Compute as a Service and AT&T Synaptic Storage-as-a-Service can be managed via a web portal. The portal (synaptic.att.com) allows you to:

• Order and provision your cloud-based services;

• View your bill;

• Scale up or scale down your cloud resources; and

• Choose credit card or invoicing as billing options.

Agencies have access to a “control panel” that allows self-provisioning of virtual machines.  Authorized end users select features from a menu of available options and resource sizes such as processor, memory, and storage.  In addition, developers may use the cloud computing API to develop customized applications or automate provisioning of virtual machines.  Federal agency customers/users can control all provisioning aspects of their virtual machines without involvement by AT&T.
