AT&T APPOINTS ANDREA MESSINEO AS REGIONAL HEAD OF CANADA, CARIBBEAN AND LATIN AMERICA

Thornhill, ON., Sept. 11, 2006 - AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced that Andrea Messineo is appointed Regional Vice President of AT&T for Canada, the Caribbean and the Latin American region. Effective immediately, Ms. Messineo is assuming the responsibilities formerly held by John Slamecka.

Ms. Messineo brings her sound management skills and in-depth industry knowledge to expanding AT&T's business in these strategic growing markets. In Canada, Ms. Messineo will lead a workforce of over 200 skilled professionals. Headquartered in Thornhill, with offices in Vancouver, Calgary and Montreal, AT&T offers a range of managed data network services in Canada and has deployed nine MPLS nodes that provide global reach and world-class voice and data services to over 400 Canadian cities.

Ms. Messineo will also lead teams in 15 other countries, including such important geographies as Mexico, Argentina and Brazil.

In her previous sales-related role, Ms. Messineo was responsible for satisfying the global requirements of AT&T's multi-national companies, including standardizing global operations, expanding services globally, evaluating profit and loss results and cultivating global relationships.

Prior to this, Ms. Messineo led AT&T's Media segment serving the global communications networking needs of the world's largest multinational media companies.

Ms. Messineo began her career at New Jersey Bell Telephone Company. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management as well as an MBA in International Business from Fairleigh Dickinson University and has completed an Executive Marketing Program at Stanford University.
