AT&T AND THE CANADIAN CANCER SOCIETY TEE OFF FOR CHARITY AND CANCER RESEARCH

THORNHILL, ON., Sept. 12, 2006 - AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today proudly announced its sponsorship of a charity golf tournament at the Glen Abbey Golf Club to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. Hosted by AT&T, the "Tee It Up with AT&T" golf tournament is part of a series of 15 golf tournaments across North America and the U.K. Proceeds of the annual Canadian tournament will be directed to the Society to fund vital cancer research and provide information and support services to people living with cancer and their families.

"The Canadian Cancer Society is honoured by AT&T's generosity and sponsorship and is proud to benefit from their support," says Dr. Barbara Whylie, national CEO, Canadian Cancer Society. "The dollars raised through this fundraising tournament will help us to fund a broad range of cancer research activities that will ensure that we continue to make progress against this disease that affects so many Canadians."

In addition to the "Tee It Up with AT&T" golf tournament, AT&T conducts its annual Relay for Life event where teams of 10 people complete an overnight walk around a track in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. Five teams across Canada participated this year and along with AT&T Foundation grants, managed to exceed their fundraising goal and will donate approximately $20,000 to the Society.

"We've worked with the Society for many years and we are thrilled to contribute to their cause," says David Denault, general manager, AT&T Global Network Services Canada. "Along with the Relay for Life event, our annual golf tournament gives our customers and partners a chance to play and help us raise more money for this cause. We appreciate their support and thank them for participating."

This year's golf tournament sponsors include:

  • Platinum - Bell, Cisco, Telus and Allstream
  • Gold - Big Pipe, Oracle, Fasken Martineau
  • Silver - Hydro One, Standard Life, High Road Communications

Companies interested in sponsoring the tournament are invited to purchase Event Level Sponsorships for foursomes at the Glen Abbey Golf Club on September 14, 2006. Individual players are also welcome and will join fund raising foursomes.
