Who Are We?

AT&T Labs is made up of approximately 1,300 of the world's best scientists and engineers including experts in advanced data networking, software engineering, systems integration & speech technology. The research team consists of experts in science and technologies of importance to AT&T. The development team creates new products and services through integration of off-the-shelf products -- including the tools and systems to manage secure and reliable networks for customers and for AT&T. They develop and deploy new technologies to automate and streamline the way AT&T interacts with customers. AT&T Labs' scientists have won numerous distinguished awards from professional associations and leading academic institutions.

Our Core Competencies

AT&T Labs has recently reorganized to more effectively leverage our core competencies for the benefit of AT&T and its customers. These core competencies include:

Scaling:

From one to millions of users, AT&T Labs knows how to create and develop technologies and services that can meet the needs of few or many.

Integration of Software Components:

AT&T Labs' technical expertise and knowledge of complex systems give us the unsurpassed ability to rapidly integrate anything—from "home grown" software to "off-the-shelf" products—to create innovative new services or enhance AT&T's own operations.

Service/Process Innovation:

From 1925 to today, AT&T Labs has attracted some of the world's greatest scientists, engineers and developers. This brain trust is responsible for creating technologies that have won the Nobel Prize and launched whole new industries. The tradition continues.

Integration of Network Components:

Running such a large and complex network for over 100 years has given AT&T Labs an incomparable knowledge of networks and the components that comprise them.

Network Management:

Managing our own large and complex network over the years has given AT&T Labs an incomparable knowledge of network management. We've come up with groundbreaking technologies in the Labs that enable us to monitor, anticipate, and act before failures can happen. Our expertise in network management is what makes our network the best in the industry in both reliability and performance.
