AT&T Virtual Private Network (VPN) Tunneling Service allow businesses to build upon current investments by providing dedicated, broadband, and remote access solutions for connection to the AT&T global network or the Internet. AT&T can extend your network to accommodate the needs of large headquarters sites, small branch offices, international locations, and traveling representatives.

AT&T VPN Tunneling Service are delivered by adding intelligent devices to the customer premises, and can be provisioned over the private AT&T backbone or the Internet. Devices such as firewalls or VPN tunnel terminators are installed at the customer/enterprise edge, and a connection is established by programming appropriate levels of network security, user access control, and bandwidth prioritization.

AT&T VPN Tunneling Service utilize IPSec (Internet Security Protocol) to prevent data tampering and help ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity of your data communications.

IPSec is a set of security protocols defined by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). IPSec determines data security at the network layer for IP networks, including methods for network authentication, data encryption, and integrity checking. IPSec is the most comprehensive tunneling standard for VPNs, and protects data end-to-end, from the remote user or desktop to the LAN (terminating branch). IPSec should work with the authentication and security policies you already have established in your corporate infrastructure.

AT&T VPN Tunneling Service solutions provide a variety of options that work together to enable customization of your IP VPN based on your needs. AT&T VPN Tunneling Service provide two basic solutions:

  • AT&T VPN Tunneling Service, Remote Access (Dial and Broadband access)
  • AT&T VPN Tunneling Service, IPSec Site to Site (Broadband and Dedicated access)

AT&T VPN Tunneling Service, Remote Access is a fully managed premises-based solution that enables mobile/remote workers to gain access to secure corporate information via IPSec tunnels. It provides you with the flexibility of allowing workers to utilize dial or broadband access, satisfying individual bandwidth needs. AT&T VPN Tunneling Service, Site to Site is a fully managed premises-based solution that provides IPSec-based tunnels between remote sites, utilizing broadband or dedicated access. It allows you to choose between broadband access for smaller branch offices, and dedicated access to accommodate medium to large branch office needs.

Third party access options are available with both remote access and site-to-site solutions.

AT&T VPN Tunneling Service customers are supported with:

  • Network Design & Engineering – AT&T includes bandwidth and CPE design as part of the standard service. An in-depth analysis of the total solution is engineered and integrated into your customer premises network infrastructure. Talented network professionals, who design a network and configuration to support each customer's unique networking requirements, perform all of these services.
  • Implementation Management – AT&T manages the entire installation of your IP VPN. This includes the provisioning of the on-site CPE and AT&T-provided access facilities.
  • CPE Installation, Management, and Maintenance – AT&T provides on-site installation of the VPN tunnel server. AT&T manages all onsite devices in and out of band 24x7. AT&T will proactively call customers and begin trouble resolution activities for reported service outages or inconsistencies.
  • Lifecycle Management – AT&T supports your ongoing needs by monitoring on-site CPE equipment 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. AT&T's operations centers have built-in escalation paths to resolve complex issues as they are encountered. It is AT&T's responsibility to invoke maintenance procedures with its engineering staff or vendors. AT&T also has a 24/7 technical support desk available to answer service questions or resolve customer-reported issues.
  • Service Level Agreements (SLAs) – AT&T offers a global network accessibility Service Level Agreement (SLA). This SLA measures successful connections to the AT&T Global Network for corporate dial-up users who utilize the AT&T Global Network Client.
  • Service Level Reports – AT&T provides a web-based record of user activity and delivers report metrics on accessibility, sustainability, and usage.
