AT&T Brings the Holiday Spirit to Anchorage with Annual Downtown Tree Lighting Ceremony

ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Nov. 25, 2009 - An annual tradition of bright decorations, festive songs and Santa Claus continues in downtown Anchorage at the 2009 AT&T Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony. AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) and the Anchorage Downtown Partnership invite the community to bring the holiday season to town with the lighting of the community's holiday tree in Town Square Park at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27.

"The Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony is known for bringing smiles to everyone," said Mike Felix, president, AT&T Alaska. "Every year, the lighting of the tree, as well as special entertainment and refreshments, is a fantastic way to get in the holiday spirit."

"Few events compare to the tree lighting ceremony for holiday cheer," said Anchorage Mayor Dan Sullivan. "This cherished tradition is always a heart-warming celebration for Anchorage residents, particularly families. We couldn't be happier with the energy AT&T and Anchorage Downtown Partnership Ltd. put into this event."

Mayor Sullivan will read a holiday proclamation during the tree lighting ceremony from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Following the tree lighting, Santa and his reindeer will be on hand to visit with children from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The Anchorage Concert Chorus, the Salvation Army and the East High School drama club will provide entertainment throughout the event. There will also be a sing-along led by the Creekside Elementary School choir. And no matter the temperature, hot cocoa and cookies will be a welcome treat provided by the Salvation Army and Furniture Classics.

The public is also encouraged to honor military personnel by bringing ornaments to hang on the Tribute Tree in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center.
